Mumford River Bridge
Douglas, MA
Design 2022
Construction 2023
The Mumford River Bridge project consists of a new bridge connecting Gilboa Street to a new warehouse development in Douglas, Massachusetts. The bridge is an approximately 67-foot, single-span, steel bridge crossing the Mumford River, directly downstream of Douglas Mill Pond Dam. FR Engineering, in conjunction with Fairbanks Engineering Corporation, provided a pile type review followed by a pile design analysis for the bridge. Due to the presence of boulders and shallow bedrock, micropiles were used for foundation support. The micropiles were designed for a 331-kip factored design load.
